Studio Map     Violet has been a fine art painter for 30 years. She attended an art college, School of the Associated Arts, on Summit Avenue in St Paul, Minnesota, where she majored in fine art painting. She enjoys painting in watercolors, oils, pen and ink; and drawing in charcoal, graphite, and pastel. Her artwork is spiritual, colorful, fun, and sometimes whimsical.

People say that her paintings stir emotions and that her animal drawings have “attitude” that bring smiles to people’s faces. Violet grew up on a small dairy farm near Randolph, Minnesota, about 30 miles south of the Twin Cities. Knowing and working with animals, experiencing all their different personalities on the farm, has helped her portray these "attitudes" in her drawings.

Recently, she has developed a product line, "Whimsical Daydreams," in which she sells prints of her work, greeting cards, bookmarks, and one-of-a-kind necklaces, earrings and pins. Violet has taught private and home-school art classes for the past 12 years. She feels that teaching has helped her to develop her skill level and also see with a new creative and artistic eye.

Presently, she works out of her home studio in New London, Minnesota. She is married to a pastor and they have two teenaged children. Art is, and has always been, a part of who she is. She feels her work is her ministry - a ministry in which she can help connect others to God.
